  • 1 Corinthians 58 - June 26, 2022

    (Ps 103:1-5) Being thankful to God. (1 Cor 10:6-11) Paul reminds the Corinthians about Israel’s history (Num 11:4-15; Ex 32:1-6). Like them, we must be devoted to our spiritual lives every day and not allow ourselves to be tempted by Satan’s world.

  • 1 Corinthians 57 - June 12, 2022

    (2 Sam 22:1-4) God is our Rock. (1 Cor 10:1-5) While many of the Old Testament saints were blessed, they often failed. Still, they are our examples. Pillar of cloud and fire (Ex 13:21-22). Holy Spirit as our advocate (Rom 8:26-27). Spiritual food (Ps 78:21-25) and water (Ex 17:5-6). God provided for the Israelites and He provides for us today.

    Communion: Review of the elements. (Acts 2:1-4, Lev 23:15) Pentecost: The Feast of Weeks (7 weeks). (1 Cor 9:24-27) Running the race and receiving the reward. Success in our spiritual lives requires self-discipline.

    (Ps 102:1-2) Turning to God in times of sorrow. Memorial Day remembrance. Reading of "In Flanders Field" by John McCrae. (1 Cor 9:19-23) As believers, we are free, yet a servant to others, in order to proclaim the good news.

    Remembering Armed Forces Day. (Ps 106:1-5) Our mighty God is in the details. Update on Pastor Inghram’s health. (1 Cor 9:15-18) Serving willingly vs. serving under compulsion. Paul’s ministry brought him joy. God gives us opportunities to serve, as well.

    (Ps 103:1-22) Praise for the Lord's mercies. (1 Cor 9:8-14) The authority and rights (or privileges) of the apostle continued. Review of verses 8-11. Study of verses 12-14. God provides for us so we can support those in ministry.

    Remembering Mother’s Day (2 Tim 1:5). Remarks by Abraham Lincoln. (1 Cor 9:8-11) The authority and rights of the apostle. Like the ox of the Old Testament, those in ministry should expect a share of the harvest for their work (Deut 25:4).

    (1 Jn 4:7-11) Communion: Knowing God through love. (1 Cor 9:1-7) Paul reaffirms his authority as an apostle and begins his defense to those who judge him. Those who serve in ministry should be supported by those benefitting from the ministry.

    (Ps 92:1-4) God provides for us every day. (1 Cor 8:1-13) Study of verses 7-13. Paul stresses the importance of brotherly love. We must not let our freewill as Christians lead us to be a stumbling block to weaker believers.

    (Mt 21:1-11) Triumphal entry. (1 Cor 8:1-6) Knowledge makes conceit, but love edifies. Love is the base for how we apply knowledge. True knowledge leads to God and a love for Him (1 Jn 4:20).

    (1 Jn 4:7-11) Communion: Love one another as God loves us. Summary of 1 Corinthians chapters 1-8. (1 Cor 8:1-6) Study of verse 1. Paul addresses the consumption of pagan meat. While knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church.

    Preview of Pastor Mark Jenkins’ Holocaust remembrance presentation next Sunday. (Ps 13:1-6) Trusting in the Lord during difficulties. (1 Cor 7:36-40) Paul’s comparison of married and single life. Godly marriage is blessed by God, but those who are not compelled to marry, do well to remain single and devote their lives to God.

    Remembering Martin Luther King. (Psalm 9:1-10) The Lord will not forsake those who seek Him. (1 Cor 7:32-35) Paul wants to alleviate concerns about problems of the world. Whether single or married, we are to be devoted to God.

    (Ps 8:1-9) God in His creation has blessed us. (1 Cor 7:25-31) How to live in a world that is passing away. The things of this world, including marriage, will pass away. While we should focus on these things, our ultimate focus and devotion should be to God.

    Communion: Peace between God and mankind through our Lord (Col 1:19-20). (1 Cor 6:12-14) "All things are lawful for me," but are they? Study of the body of the believer. We must be careful not to justify our behaviors to satisfy sinful desires.

    (Ps 71:1-6) God the Rock of salvation. Remembering Reformation Day. (1 Cor 6:7-11) Study of inheritance in God’s Kingdom. Paul’s comment about lifestyle of Corinthian believers (v. 9-11). Our future inheritances depend on our behaviors on earth.

    (Ps 95:1-7) Our loving Shepherd. (1 Cor 6:1-6) Believer taking believer to court. Study of verses 1-6. Believers have the ability to mediate small disputes, as we will one day judge the world and angels (2 Pet 2:4; Rev 3:21).

    (Ps 96:1-6) A song of praise. (1 Cor 5:9-13) Study of verses 9-13. Immorality in the Church continued. Certain sins can affect the health of the Church. As members of a church, we have a responsibility to keep these sins out of the church (Deut 17:7) and live godly lives.

  • 1 Corinthians 35 - October 10, 2021

    Communion: Our salvation is built on Christ (1 Peter 1:17-19). (1 Cor 5:1-8) Study of verses 6-8. Immorality in the Church continued. Sinful habits are hard to break (Heb 12:1) and can eventually spread to others. Sin must be removed from the local church.

  • 1 Corinthians 34 - September 26, 2021

    (Ps 66:1-7) All creation worships the Creator. 16th anniversary of Pastor Inghram’s commissioning. (1 Cor 5:1-5) Study of verses 3-5. Paul continues to address immorality in the Church. The Church must protect its godly conduct with discipline or discipling (Mt 18:15ff).

    (Ps 62:1-12) Dedication, devotion to God. The signing of the US Constitution. Reading of article, “America’s Three Founding Documents: The Bible, The Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution” by Don Sweeting. (1 Cor 5:1-5) Study of verses 1-2. Paul addresses immorality in the Church.

  • 1 Corinthians 26 - August 1, 2021 Communion: Living a godly life (1 Pet 1:17-19) (1 Cor 4:6-7) Study of verses 6-7. The boasting of the Corinthians. We must be humble in our study of Scripture (Rom 12:3). Deviating from the Word of God leads to pride.

  • 1 Corinthians 25 - July 25, 2021

    (Ps 11:1-7) God assists us during adversity. (1 Cor 4:1-5) Study of verses 1-5. Paul as a steward of the mysteries of God (Eph 3:2). In our roles as servants (1 Cor 6:20) and stewards, we must be faithful when opposed, even if we fall short (Phil 3:13-14). God will reward us.

  • 1 Corinthians 24 - July 18, 2021

    (Ps 8:1-9) A personal God. (1 Cor 3:18-23) Study of verses 18-23. Guard against worldly wisdom (Job 5:13; Ps 94:11). You belong to God. Instead of futility, strive for humility (Phil 2:3-4).

  • 1 Corinthians 23 - July 11, 2021

    Communion: The Righteous for the unrighteous (1 Pet 3:18; Jn 11:17-26). (1 Cor 3:16-17) Study of verse 17. The believer’s body, your body, is the temple of God (Rom 8:9-11). Sealing of the Holy Spirit (Eph 1:13). Sin corrupts the soul leading to loss of potential rewards.

  • 1 Corinthians 22 - June 27, 2021

    Celebrating Independence Day. The Supreme Court declares America a Christian nation (1892). (1 Cor 3:16-17) Study of verse 16. As a temple of God, our body is to glorify God (v. 9; Rom 8:9).

  • 1 Corinthians 21 - June 13, 2021

    Remembering Flag Day/Week. Reading of President Biden’s Flag Day address. (1 Cor 3:9-15) Study of Judgment Seat of Christ concluded (1 Pet 5:2-4). While the Judgment Seat may be a time of shame (1 Jn 2:28), it will ultimately be a time of joy (Mt 25:23).

  • 1 Corinthians 20 - June 6, 2021

    Communion: Knowing God through love (1 Jn 4:7-11). Remembering D-Day. Reading from Ronald Reagan’s 1984 remarks. (1 Cor 3:9-15) The Day of Evaluation: doctrine of the Judgment Seat of Christ or Bema (2 Cor 5:10; Rev 22:12).

  • 1 Corinthians 19 - May 30, 2021

    Remembering Memorial Day. Reading from President Bush's 2008 address. (1 Cor 3:9-15) Day of Evaluation - will our life's work endure? Study of verses 14-15. We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ (2 Cor 5:10). Fate of divine good vs. human good (Jn 10:27).

  • 1 Corinthians 18 - May 23, 2021

    (Acts 2:1-4) Day of Pentecost. The major feasts of Israel (Lev 23:1-44). Pentecost: what is it and why is it important? (1 Cor 3:9-15) Gold, silver, precious stones OR wood, hay, straw. Study of verse 13. All our activities and thoughts will be evaluated by God (Heb 4:13; 1 Cor 4:5; 2 Cor 5:10).

  • 1 Corinthians 17 - May 16, 2021

    Remembering Armed Forces Day, Peace Officers Memorial Day, Israel’s statehood, and Pentecost. (Ps 91:1-16) Safety of abiding in the Lord. (1 Cor 3:5-12) We are God’s fellow workers. Study of verses 9-12. Our works will be evaluated by God in the future (rewards/loss of rewards).

  • 1 Corinthians 16 - May 9, 2021

    (Ps 105:1-6) Adulation of God. Mother’s Day: A day to be celebrated (Prov 31:10-31). (1 Cor 3:1-8) God provides the increase. Study of verses 5-8. Like Paul and Apollos, God will assist us as we share His message (2 Cor 5:20). We work with others but receive our own rewards.

  • 1 Corinthians 15 - May 2, 2021

    Communion: The remarkable love of God seeks to save us from His wrath (Eph 2:1-7). (1 Cor 3:1-4) God’s revelation to mankind. Study of verses 1-4. The Corinthians had made little spiritual progress due to their sinful lives (1:10). We must not let divisions/sin hinder us.

  • 1 Corinthians 14 - April 25, 2021

    (Ps 90:1-17) God’s everlasting love. (1 Cor 2:9-16) Study of verses 14-16. Believers need a human spirit to understand spiritual information taught by the Holy Spirit (Jn 14:15-17, 26; Is 40:13). The unbeliever does not have a human spirit. The Holy Spirit acts as a human spirit for the unbeliever, so the unbeliever can at least understand the gospel message.

  • 1 Corinthians 13 - April 18, 2021

    (Ps 86: 1-13) How God provides for us. (1 Cor 2:10-16) Study of verses 10-13. Paul continues to contrast spiritual wisdom with worldly wisdom. As we understand human things through our human spirit, conversely we can only learn spiritual things through the Holy Spirit (v. 10-13; 1 Thes 5:23).

  • 1 Corinthians 12 - April 11, 2021

    Update on Pastor Inghram's health. (Ps 18:1-2) Our love for God. (1 Cor 2:6-9) Paul speaks of the wisdom of God. Study of verses 6-9. There is no greater power in the world than God the Holy Spirit working through the Word of God. The hidden knowledge of God is abundant.

  • 1 Corinthians 11 -March 28, 2021

    (Mt 21:1-11) The Triumphal Entry. What is the significance of Palm Sunday? Background (Deut 6-8; Dan 9:25). While the Messiah’s return was prophesied, Israel rejected Him (Lk 19:41-44). (1 Cor 2:1-5) Paul’s simple presentation of the gospel. Study of verses 1-5. We need not use persuasive or impressive words, but simply tell others about Christ.

  • 1 Corinthians 10 - February 28, 2021

    (Ps 40:1-3) Rely completely on Lord. (1 Cor 1:26-31) Human achievement rejected; glory in God only. Study of verses 26-31. The Jews wanted signs. The Gentiles valued wisdom. Human pride and achievement obscures the wisdom of God's gospel message (Mt 19:24). Humility, and a focus on Bible doctrine, brings true wisdom and glorifies God (Jer 19:24).

  • 1 Corinthians 9 - February 21, 2021

    Rush Limbaugh testimony. (1 Cor 1:18-25) Christ, the power and wisdom of God. Study of verses 18-25. There are many impressive speakers, but the power and wisdom of God comes from His Word (the message of Christ), not the words of men. Foolishness comes from wisdom of the world.

  • 1 Corinthians 8 - February 14, 2021

    (Ps 30:1-12) God lifts up the discouraged. (1 Cor 1:10-17) Divisions in the Church continued. It's important that divisions outside the Church are not allowed to cause divisions inside the Church. Study of verses 14-17. Study of baptism as one cause of division and its true meaning.

  • 1 Corinthians 7 - February 7

    Communion: Christ's fulfillment of Law qualified Him to go to cross (Gal 4:4). (1 Cor 1:10-13) Divisions in the Church. Study of verses 10-12. Like the Corinthians, we are at risk of succumbing to disharmony in the Church. We should, instead, be unified in the Lord (Eph 4:14-16). Reading of "The Message, Not the Messenger" from Nelson Study Bible.

  • 1 Corinthians 6 - January 31, 2021

    (Eph 4:11-16) God gives spiritual gifts to help us grow spiritually and edify the Body of Christ. (1 Cor 1:4-7) It is not necessary to identify your spiritual gift in order to use it. We simply need a desire to serve. God will accomplish His plan through us. Summary of principles.

  • 1 Corinthians 5 - January 24th, 2021

    (Ps 43:1-5) Wait on God in times of trouble. (1 Cor 1:4-9) Study of spiritual gifts continued. Involvement of the Trinity (1 Cor 12:3-11), distribution, categories (temporary vs. permanent), and purpose. Spiritual gifts don’t exist to serve you, but to serve God and the Body of Christ.

  • 1 Corinthians 4 - January 17, 2021

    (1 Cor 1:4-9) Special study: spiritual gifts. Definition (Rm 12:6-8), doctrine (Eph 4:7-8). We may not know our spiritual gift, but as we focus on our service to the Lord, He will direct us.

  • 1 Corinthians 3 - January 10, 2021

    Ps 20:1-9: Starting the new year trusting the Lord. Update on Pastor Inghram’s health. Study of verses 4-9. We are to express gratitude to God for all things, including our spiritual gifts (v. 4-5). The Corinthians were confused about their spiritual gifts. The basis for our gifts is faith, which Christ strengthens to the end (v. 6-9).

  • 1 Corinthians 2 - January 6, 2021

    Communion: Animal sacrifices of the past vs the ultimate sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor 1:1-3) Paul greets the Corinthians in the introduction to his letter. Brief review of the Apostle Paul. Study of verses 1-3. As we begin this new year, we should begin with an understanding that God provides for us.

  • 1 Corinthians 1 - December 6, 2020

    Communion: God’s offer of deliverance from Satan’s world to His own (Col 1:13-14). (Acts 18:1-12) Introduction to the church of Corinth. Ministry or service to God is not always easy. Like Paul, we can be encouraged by God’s word (v. 9-11).
