The Bible's Teachings on Equality and Subordination

By - Interim Pastor Freddy Cortez, National Capital Bible Church

The Bible has teachings about different topics, including the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) and gender roles. It is important to understand these teachings considering our current culture. Let us explore these ideas using God’s Word as our authority!

Understanding the Trinity
The Trinity is the belief that God is one, but exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. They are all seen as equal but have different roles. For example, Jesus said that the Father was greater than Him (John 14:28), showing subordination in terms of their roles.

Respecting Gender Roles
In the Bible, it says that within marriage, husbands and wives have different roles. It says that wives should submit to their husbands, like how the church submits to Christ. This doesn't mean that women are less important or worth less than men; it just means that they have different responsibilities within the context of marriage.

Equality and Respect
It's important to remember that even though there may be different roles, everyone is equal in value and should be treated with respect and fairness. This means that men and women are both important and valuable in the eyes of God and should be treated as equals in all aspects of life outside of these specific roles in marriage.

Our Culture
In our current culture, we have different ways of thinking about equality and the roles of men and women compared to when the Bible was written. We believe that both men and women can do many things and have rights and opportunities that should be equal. We value and respect each other for our abilities and qualities, regardless of gender.

Conclusion
The Bible teaches us about the Trinity and gender roles, but it is important to understand these teachings in the context of our modern society. We believe in equality and treating others with respect, regardless of gender. Everyone is valuable, and we all have different roles and responsibilities, but that does not mean one person is more important or better than another.

Remember, as we grow in our spiritual life by learning and applying God’s Word daily, it is important to have open and respectful discussions about these topics using God’s perspective as found in His Word, not our own. And the only way you start gaining that perspective is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, so that His thoughts can then become your thoughts.

Becoming one is simple:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

Believe in Him for everlasting life and you have it.

I hope this article helps you understand these concepts better!
