The Rapture of the Church – Are We Getting Closer?
By - Interim Pastor Freddy Cortez, National Capital Bible Church
I have been asked many times about the timing of the Rapture of the Church. Many believers are looking at current events and wondering if we are getting closer to this event. While we cannot know the exact timing of the Rapture, we can look at the signs of the times and see that we are living in a time of great upheaval and uncertainty.
One of the reasons I believe the Rapture is close is due to the increase in worldwide conflicts and disasters. Jesus warned us that in the last days, there would be "wars and rumors of wars" (Matthew 24:6), and we are certainly seeing this happening today. Wars and conflicts are breaking out all over the world, and natural disasters are becoming more frequent and more destructive.
Another hint is in the rise of lawlessness and moral decay. Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 4:1-2 that in the last days, many will turn away from the faith and follow deceiving spirits and teachings that come from demons. We see this happening today with the rise of secularism and the rejection of God's Word as the ultimate authority in people's lives. Many people today are living for themselves and rejecting the moral standards that God has set for us in His Word.
We also see the signs of the Rapture in the increase in technology and globalization. The book of Revelation tells us that in the last days, the Antichrist will rise to power and will have the ability to control all buying and selling (Revelation 13:16-17). The technological advancements of recent years have brought us closer to this reality, with the rise of cashless payment systems and the ability to track people's movements and activities through digital means.
As believers, we should not be fearful of these signs, but rather we should be encouraged, knowing that our redemption draws near (Luke 21:28). Jesus promised that He would return for His Church, and we should take heart in this promise and live our lives in readiness for His coming.
While we cannot know the exact timing of the Rapture, we can look at the signs of the times and see that we are getting closer. As believers, we should continue to live for Christ, sharing His love with others and advancing the cause of Christ to all who will hear. We should also be watching and waiting for His return, knowing that our eternal hope is in Him and in the glorious future that He has prepared for us.
Let us be encouraged by the knowledge that we serve a God who is in control, even in the midst of a world that is filled with uncertainty and chaos. And let us continue to hold fast to the hope that we have in Christ, knowing that one day soon, He will come again to take us home with Him.
