A Thanksgiving Greeting from Pastor Inghram

My fellow believers,

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good [gracious]! For His mercy [lovingkindness] endures forever…. For He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with goodness” (Psalm 107:1, 9).

As we approach our Thanksgiving holiday, we enjoy the opportunity to celebrate with family and friends and to thank God for the many blessings He has given us. However, if we are honest, it is impossible to list all that God does for us in any one day, to say nothing of the entire year. God’s blessings to us are innumerable! We should be thankful for the simplest blessings that God has done for us as well as the extraordinary ones. We must be thankful for the difficult times as well as the happy times.

For many of us merely being content, being at peace with our situation today, is challenging. Our lives are filled with difficulties. We are not content. We do not have or demonstrate the peace of God in our lives because our focus is on the difficulties rather than on God. Our focus in life must be on God, His love for us, and His matchless grace toward us.

Psalm 107:9 reminds us that God “satisfies the longing soul.” Many of us have a longing soul. We must allow God to fill our hungry souls with His goodness. Yes, absolutely, be grateful to God for all that He has done for us over the past year, but also appreciate who God is, His incredible character, and how marvelous it is that He hold us in His hands moment by moment.

“Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all” (2 Thessalonians 3:16).

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

I wish you a happy, content Thanksgiving Day, one filled with God’s peace.
