God’s loving grace extends to all His creation (Mt 5:45), but special grace is reserved for believers (Eph 2:8; 2 Cor 9:8; Rom 12:3). Study of the different types of grace. Finding peace in political turmoil (Jm 1:19; Phil 4:4-7).

    (Ps 119:57-64) Call to worship. Update on Pastor Inghram’s health. (2 Thes 3:10-15) Study of verse 14 cont. Unlike the Jews, the Thessalonians lived in a pagan culture. Yet, the gospel was spreading in the world (Col 1:6). With this message, came a call to live a spiritual life (3:12-13) and deal correctly with disorderly believers (2 Thes 3:14; Mt 18:15-19).

    NCBC 15th anniversary celebration. (2 Thes 3:10-14) Study of verse 14. We do not automatically change after we receive salvation. We must continue to grow spiritually (Phil 3:12) and disassociate from irresponsible believers like some of the believers in the Thessalonian Church.

    (Ps 111:1-10) Call to worship. (2 Thes 3:10-13) Labor Day as a Christian holiday. Why do Americans celebrate this meaningless holiday? How should we approach it? God instituted labor on the sixth day of creation (Gen 2:15). We should celebrate labor as a gift from God (Ps 8:6; Jn 9:4; Col 3:22-25).

  • 2 Thessalonians 37 - September 6, 2020

    (Is 53:3-12) Communion: The sin-bearing Messiah. Update on Pastor Inghram’s health. (2 Thes 3:6-13) Study of verse 13. Satan is the god of this age (2 Cor 4:4). While he resists us, we must not get discouraged. Your steadfastness will be rewarded (Gal 6:7-10; Col 3:22-25).

    (2 Cor 9:10-15) Worship in giving. The fallacy of Christian socialism continued (Mt 25:31-46 - clarified; Rev 19:11; 1 Sam 30:23-25). Socialism is not taught by the Word of God, but compassion and generosity are.

    (2 Thes 3:6-12) Study of verse 12. Study of godly conduct continued. God expects us to work quietly as unto the Lord (v. 12; Col 3:23). Introduction to the dangers of socialism.

    (Ps 144:1-4, 9-10, 15b) Call to worship. The importance of teaching children about God. (2 Thes 3:6-12) Study of verse 11. Work is not only godly conduct; it is biblical principle (v. 11). We are to apply ourselves and God will provide for us.

  • 2 Thessalonians 32 - August 2, 2020

    (Matt 20:24-28) Communion: The Ransom Price. (2 Thes 3:10) Study of verse 10 and two sides of the Christian life (conduct and communication). Paul both lived a godly life and taught godly principles. Since everyone must eat, everyone must work (v. 10; Gen 2:15, 3:17; Col 3:23).

  • 2 Thessalonians 31 - July 26, 2020

    (Mark 4:35-40) When a storm strikes. (2 Thes 3:6-9) Study of verses 8-9. Paul continues to describe his own conduct. He shared God's word as a gift and worked for a living (v. 8). We, too, should share God's word freely without being a burden to others. This is done out of self-sacrificial love (v. 9; Eph 4:32).

    Remembering Timothy Chappell Conway (Ps 116:15; Ecc 7:1). (2 Thes 3:6-7) Study of verses 6-7. Paul reminds us to withdraw from wayward believers to avoid damaging our testimony to others (v. 6; 1 Cor 5:11). Rather, model your life after Paul, as learned through God's word (2 Thes 3:7; Eph 4:32; 2 Pet 1:5-8).

    (Ps 98:1-9) Call to worship. Update on Pastor Inghram’s health. (2 Thes 3:5) Our growing love of God and His word provides for us spiritual endurance. Principles about endurance/perseverance (Phil 3:14; Lk 21:19; Rom 5:3-4; 1 Tim 6:11; Heb 12:1-2).

Believers are reminded to give thanks always to the Father (Col 1:12; Eph 5:20) who loves us (Rom 8:35). He chose you as firstfruits for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit (2 Thes 2:13).

    (Col 1:13-14) Communion: It’s through the Lord Jesus Christ that we have forgiveness. Leap year. (2 Thes 2:9-12) Study of verses 11-12. God will harden the hearts of condemned unbelievers in the Tribulation. Parallels to Pharaoh. The Word of God strengthens our hearts against evil.

    Presidents’ Day. (2 Thes 2:8-12) Study of verse 10. During the Tribulation, Satan will use the miracle working of the Antichrist to blind and delude those who have rejected the love of God (Rom 5:6-8). Concludes with lessons from the Mt Suribachi Flag Raising.

    Update on Pastor Inghram’s health. Harvard’s Christian origin. Valentine’s Day. (2 Thes 2:1-9) Study of verse 9. Satan will empower the Antichrist with operational power (1 Thes 2:18; Jn 8:44) to deceive humans during the Tribulation. Let not yourself be deceived today.

  • 2 Thessalonians 14 - February 9, 2020

    Brigadier General Charles McGee. (2 Thes 2:1-8) Study of verses 7-8. The Antichrist will rule during the Tribulation without the restraining power of God the Holy Spirit (v. 7-8; Is 11:4). Believers are spared these events. Devotion to the Word of God prevents us from being deceived about end times.

    (1 John 2:1-2) Communion: Our Advocate, Jesus Christ the righteous. International Holocaust Remembrance Day: Francis “Frank” Foley. Study of Antichrist continued (2 Thes 2:5, 7; 1 Jn 2:18; Rev 13:6). Lesson concludes with reflections on President McKinley.

    Reflections on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (2 Thes 2:1-4) Study of verse 3. Paul warns the Thessalonians not to be seduced by false teachings. Before the Day of Christ occurs, the Rapture and Antichrist must come first (v. 3; Acts 20:28-31, Titus 2:11-14). Lesson concludes with 10 reasons “falling away” refers to the Rapture, per Dr. Andy Woods.

  • 2 Thessalonians 10 - January 12, 2020

    (2 Thes 2:1-3) Study of verses 1-2. Paul addresses confusion created by false teaching. The Rapture and the Day of the Lord are coming (v. 1), but these prophesies (1 Cor 14:29-32) should not spiritually shake us (2 Thes 2:2). Believers will experience the Rapture but not the Tribulation.

Paul then closes the chapter with the plan and purpose for prayer (2 Thes 1:11-12). Includes study of the shared glory of God with believers (Eph 1:19, 6:10, Rom 8:18).

    Veterans Day remembrance. (2 Thes 1:1-8) Study of verses 7-8. The Lord is Supreme Judge and brings perfect judgment (v. 6, Gal 6:7). Believers who endure persecution will be rewarded during the Lord’s second coming (2 Thes 1:7, 2 Tim 2:12, Rev 1:7, Dan 7:13, Mt 24:30, 2 Cor 4:16). Unbelievers will also receive their due (2 Thes 1:8). Lesson concludes with observance of 1st Lt. John R. Fox and WW2 nurses.

    (Rom 5:1-10) Communion: Peace and harmony with God through Jesus Christ. (2 Thes 1:1-7) Study of verses 5-6. While there is more persecution today of Christians than in the past, we are comforted in knowing we will be rewarded for our persecution (v. 5). We need not worry about the wicked, because God will repay with affliction those unbelievers whom afflict believers (v. 6, Gen 18:25).
